Some People Can Fall Asleep Anywhere

I don’t know why this is where he chooses to take a nap or how this position can even be comfortable, but Kingston is often found on the back of the couch dreaming of catching squirrels.

Kingston likes it Hot, HOT, HOT!

Like any new puppy owners, we are trying to figure out what works for us when it comes to disciplining Kingston. He has become quite fond of the plastic chair mat we have in the office and oftentimes will lie on it even if one of us isn’t in the room. I’m guessing it is cooler than carpet during the hot days. And I don’t mind. It’s one of the few places that will be easy to clean if there is a puppy potty training mishap. The part I do mind is that he has also become a fan of chewing on the legs and wheels of our office chair.

So what do we do?

Mr. S decided to ask around. And by ask around I mean seek out suggestions from his Twitter followers. One suggestion that seemed like a good idea was to coat the adored object (in this case our chair legs) with hot sauce.  I even found a website backing up this option. With the promise that “one taste is all your dog needs to learn his lesson.” The result? Kingston couldn’t have been happier. He licked off every last bit and continued licking Mr. S’ hands until he was sure he had got it all.

I guess being born on Cinco de Mayo has had a bigger effect on him than we thought.

Puppy Love

Oh my gosh! Look at that face! Isn’t he beyond adorable?

king1It seems like only yesterday (May 5 to be exact) that we found out our new puppy had been born. We decided on a name early on and got our home ready for his arrival. This past weekend we were finally able to bring Kingston home and make him part of our family. We had to travel in a hail storm to Idaho to pick him up, but it was all worth it.

Kingston is quickly becoming the most popular pup in the neighborhood and gets a lot of ‘oohs’ whenever we go for a walk. Not that I would expect anything different. So apologies for the shortage of blogs this week. I have had very little sleep and am adjusting to life with a newborn.

Flip Flop Challenge: Week 3…and Other Stuff

After 3 weeks of doing this little contest I am finally seeing some results. Lost a pound. The workouts were nothing to write home about, but I do think I did better as far as the amount of sweets I consumed. Also just found out that my old trainer is in town for a month and teaching a 3-day women’s bootcamp. He has graciously offered to let me come and take it, free of charge. The unfortunate thing is class starts at 5:45…a.m!

I also passed my motorcycle safety class this past weekend. Mr. S is very proud but I think that means he is excited we can start going on some rides together. I still have a long way to go before I feel completely comfortable, but that only comes with time. I named my bike Cherry Pie, and by doing so I know she will take better care of me as we travel the open road.

In puppy news we no longer need to choose between the adorable pups born just 3 weeks ago. Their mother made that decision for us when she rolled on top of one of her sons killing him. It is a sad turn of events but that must mean the brown one is meant for us. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the best son survived.

Announcing the Arrival of Bret Michaels

The day I have been waiting for finally came. My new puppy has arrived! Sadly, he is not at my house yet but that will happen soon enough. And though he was born on Cinco De Mayo, I am sticking to my original plan and naming him Bret Michaels…with a small twist. Mr. S is not too keen on the idea of a dog named after a rock star. Not sure why, something to do with the embarrassment he may face when calling out to our new addition in public. So we have agreed on Kingston Bret Michaels. We spent our honeymoon in Jamaica so we thought it was a nice homage. You may all have a moment to gag over my sentimental nature. Done? Good.

He will be referred to as just Kingston in most circles, but I will always think of him as my own rock of love. And this way Mr. S can keep his dignity.

We will make the drive to Idaho to pick Kingston out in a couple of weeks. It is between the two cuties above. I would take them both if I could. Which one do you think I should choose?
