Happy Birthday, Mr. S!

Today is Mr.S’ birthday. He is the exact opposite of me and hates all the attention a birthday can bring. Not sure what is wrong with him, but if you see him on the street be sure to tell him “Happy Birthday!” He will love me for it.

Mr. S is not much of a cake guy, so he requested pie. Being the loving wife that I am I agreed to give it a shot. Mr. S gave me a cookbook titled, “Sweety Pies” for Christmas, so finding a good recipe wasn’t a problem. The problem would be if it came out looking nothing like the picture in the book. I figured worse case scenario if it didn’t work out there was always Marie Callendar’s. I am happy to report that it DID work out. I made my first ever strawberry-rhubarb pie, with a homemade crust to boot. No back up plan necessary. Mr. S has even requested I make it again. Definitely a good sign.

The Real Housewife of SLC

I don’t watch many of those “Real Housewives” shows, I am too busy devoting my reality tv time to Bret Michaels and The Biggest Loser. On the rare occasion I have tuned in I haven’t stayed long. Who wants to watch a bunch of rich bi-otches spend all of their time shopping, eating out at fine restaurants, getting botox and cat-fighting with one another? Sigh…they are living the life I was always meant for. And according to Mr. S the life I will one day have.

On the way to the gym this morning, Mr. S said, “Won’t it be nice when you are a stay at home mom and can work out 3 times a day?” His idealism about certain things is really endearing.

I am very aware that this will not be the case. I know too many moms who have proven this to be correct. Even if I am able and choose to stay home full-time, working out 3 times a day will never happen. I don’t like going to the gym 3 times a week. But sign me up for the botox!

Red Badge of Courage

For Valentines Day I gave Mr. S a card than included this pin. You would think he would want to shout this from the roof tops. But no, 2 months later he still hasn’t worn it. Tonight I gave him the opportunity.

We had some movies that needed to be returned to Red Box and since I had picked up the movies I asked Mr. S to return them. He said he would if I would come with him. I didn’t really want to but when I got a glimpse of this card on the nightstand I formulated what I believed to be a masterful plan. I told him I would go if he would wear the pin on his chest for all to see. He went alone.

It was a win-win situation for me.

I’m blogging, I’m a blogger…I blogged!!

It has been a long time coming but I am happy to announce that I have officially started a blog!! I kept telling myself that I would start once I got married to keep everyone up to date on life as an “us” and 2 months later I am finally achieving that goal. I have actually been working on this for a week or so now, finding a background I was happy with, tweaking all to my specifications. The perfectionist in me wanted it to look just right, though I expect my efforts will not matter seeing how at the end of the day, a blog is a blog is a blog. But on to more important things…

Our new life officially began on August 9, 2008. We had a beautiful ceremony in the Bountiful LDS Temple followed by an evening reception at the Gallivan Center. For those of you who were able to make it..thank you. Official thank you’s are coming soon, but according to wedding etiquette I believe I have up to a year to send them all out. I don’t plan on waiting that long since it might get confusing soon as to whether you are receiving a Christmas card or a thank you note! For those of you who weren’t able to come…boy, did you miss out!! There was dancing, ice cream and fun for all. I wouldn’t have changed a thing and I think that is exactly how it should be. Mr. S and I spent a week in Jamaica (with our own butler!) at a Sandals Resort in Ocho Rios. All inclusive is the way to go…we went scuba diving multiple times, ate more than we should have, visited Dunns River Falls, and lived it up on the beach. I even got Mr. S to ride a horse. We came home with great memories and a great tan. The memories are still alive in our minds and in pictures but sadly the tan has faded. Our last night Mr. S arranged a special candlelight dinner on the beach…how romantic! It was a great way to say goodbye to a wonderful week and a great way to say hello to our new life together.

Since the honeymoon we are settling into life. Mr. S is in his final year of school at the University of Utah, and just started an internship at BlackBottoms cycling wear. I am still working at Keystone Media as a media buyer but looking to spread my wings. Anyone know of any good jobs in the media/public relations/marketing world? We are loving life together and I look forward to keeping you all up date on our “Happily Ever After.”
